The site planning principles for Casey are to:

> provide a welcoming, friendly and safe environment to both residents and visitors alike;
> integrate the estate with the surrounding area, especially the green areas surrounding the estate;
> being high in Gungahlin offer views over the district;
> have blocks that look over bushland and open spaces;
> promote environmentally sustainable design (ESD) principles for use of water and power, eg. rainwater harvesting;
> be close to existing amenities, facilities and services; and
> offer cost-effective housing solutions as well as large well sited blocks.
